Key Ideas
One of the key ideas for the effects of the tour is that the tour provoked arguments between families & friends. This was due to the fact that the majority of New Zealander's had their opinion on the tour and on the protests themselves. The fact that their differences over the tour caused arguments caused anguish amongst both groups. Another key idea for the effects of the tour is that New Zealand created an image for themselves, distinguishing themselves away from England. The fact that there were protests against the apartheid-regime in South Africa inspired many people including Nelson Mandela to carry on the protest back home. New Zealand can therefore claim they played a part in the long process of the end of apartheid in South Africa.
